Auction 37
Ok, rant mode on!
What should have been a beautiful day at the auction turned out to be
a day of disappointment. Part of the blame
must fall on me and the other falls on how US auctions runs their
show.
I almost never fails, Us shows almost always runs in the same order.
Boards and parts first. Slots, cocktails,
coin changers second, then goes the first row of nicer 19" machines
and the classics. Up the next row for
all the 25 " machines. Then the pinball machines followed by the
sit-down machines followed by the redemption
stuff and soda machines and kiddie rides (if any). And then the last
row of the old beat up conversions and other
games that arrived late that day.
Here is where the depression sets in. I wanted a Daytona for the
arcade. Can I fit a Daytona in my house? .. No…
And although that has kept me from buying on in the past, I was
determined that it would be an overlookable problem
today and I was going to take one home.
So I wait…. Past the Omega Race that was beautiful and working 100%,
Past 2 centipedes I could use, past the food
fight that I haven't seen in years, not to mention the Robotron or the
Captain fantastic pin…. all because I can
only fit one twin Daytona in the trailer. Can you see the problem
yet…… All the good stuff is getting auctioned
off as I wait to see if I can get a sit-down.
And as luck would have it… By the time they got to the single Daytona,
it was broken so it was passed.. And then
the 3 twins were sold between $2400 to $2800!!! OUCH! I've seen them
go for under 400!
Anyway, at this point there was nothing left that was worth buying as
only the redemption junk and row of crap
games was left. Bummer! The trailer came home empty
Well that pretty much wraps it up for the season as we are now into
the summer months so the auction will not be
running again until September.
