Auction 60

Well its over. No more auctions will be held at the South Jersey Expo center as the building is scheduled for demolition. The last show here, held this past Saturday, March 22nd 2003, held a good turn out of machinery and people. I wasn't surprised at the increase in machines for this auction, as I'm sure anyone who went to the Egg Harbor show, and saw the conditions and turn out, feared that if they didn't bring their equipment to the last Expo center show, they would never get a fair price at an auction again.
Rob started the show with his usual announcements of terms of sale, but went into a speal about how he does auctions as a service to the community and it is the sellers and collectors that make or break locations. Ok, that part may be true, but Rob made it sound like he was the victim of auctions, where his fees and conditions make him a SH@Tload of money every show. Personally, I'm hoping they find another South Jersey location as the Egg Harbor area bites. US has already canceled the June show, although, at this typing, it remains on their web page. They should have canceled the May 3rd show instead, as this date conflicts with the Allentown Pinball Wizards convention. Ill be attending the Allentown, show so you guys are on you own for the next Egg Harbor results. If anyone wants to send me any info or pictures, Ill put together a page if there is enough data.
The York PA show is still on. Roomers throughout the crowd indicate that the location is very nice. The down side was that many, who need to drive 5+ hours to get to Pennsauken, felt that he drive to York is too long. I haven't plotted a course myself (map quest here I come) but I plan on making the run this coming April. Special thanks to Seth Soffer and anyone else grabbing my price book to give me a break and to John and his wife Madelynne, who took ALL the pin prices!
